Most films like this are reprints of newsreels sold for home viewing. If you unwind the first several feet of film you should be able to see if there is a leader indicating that it was a newsreel.

Hydrogen was used in the place of Helium. It
Became unstable and with the mix of air from changes in wind direction created a spark.

Airplanes proved much safer , once their were Universal Flight Standards. More lives were saved because of this unfortunate accident

Agreed. The British R-101 also had a slightly-pressurized smoking room (its use and convenience were mentioned in an early radio news message dispatch), before the crash in France that night. It too had no connection with the R-101 accident.

The smoking room was safe–it was air-tight, with its internal pressure slightly above the outside pressure, to prevent any stray hydrogen from entering it. A steward lit smokers’ cigarettes, cigars, and pipes with an electric lighter similar to those in cars (and the purser kept their lighters and matches until after landing).

It was covered in the German press — it would have been hard to hide — but the Germans took steps to avoid any discussion of possible negligence by the crew.

All as a replacement for the dreaded fossil fuels. I’m thinking any of the aforementioned uses could result in another explosive incident. Is Hydrogen fuel use any safer now than in 1935? Also, is the earths oxygen supply going to be depleted to manufacture the trillions and zillions of cubic feet of Hydrogen fuel?

Were there any attempts to cover up or downplay the crash by the German authorities? I figure that the Nazis, with their pervasive state propaganda and censorship, would have aggressively tried to suppress all knowledge of the disaster to save face. Furthermore, did most Germans learn about the Hindenburg crash immediately after it happened, or only after the end of the war? Thank you.
